I Still Have Tons of Pharmakon and Wolf Eyes Pictures and Videos from the Chicago Show During Pitchfork Weekend

I'm having problems getting the videos to upload so here's some Pharmakon pictures for now.

Believe the hype: she is amazing live.

So no commentary necessary...show was awesome.  Pharmakon reinforced what I thought and took me from 'meh' to fan on the strength of the performance.  Wolf Eyes learned from their run-in with T. Mahoney and stuck to playing riffs most of the time.  These were savage, monster riffs too...not some JV crap you'd get at an Undertones show circa 1984.  The new album deserves our respect and the band earned my continued admiration.

Oh and quick side note: I'm working on some new music that I expect to have ready to post in the next week or so.  I got most of the samples and instrument tracks ready and am just trying to make early 80s no wave more exciting because I can't get the DJ out of me.

Piel De Pueblo

I usually don't go in for rock music in different languages. Its not that I really care all that much what they are saying, it just sounds off. Spanish sounds frantic, french sounds off-beat...ya know? But this recent find off Chris is fire. I'm obviously not sure what he is saying, but I assume it is something along the lines of "when you're deep in the heart of rape valley, Tom Mahoney ain't never gonna save you. His black heart is infinitely black and stinks of fried plastic and tar love. Kindle your foie gras in the river of shameful bestiality. Mountain goats, in the heat flame, guide me to the domed terrace of sainthood."
Shit, that is what I would say if I was an Argentinian psych rocker in the 70s. Chris goes off yet again. Dig the GNR post a few below too for anyone who though Chris was a snobby cynic and hater. I never did...

Jerusalem and Godflesh

Ok so my homey Camerin hipped me to the most amazing blog ever a few months ago: http://ChrisGoesRocks.blogspot.com. This saint of man in Sweden, apparently named Chris, took the time to upload thousands of amazing full-length albums by bands no one has ever heard of. I mean, I dig some obscure psych rock and prog and all that and I am ashamed of how little I know compared to this dude. So far, the standout track is by a band called Jerusalem. "Primitive Man" rips it so hard and I can't get the song away from my brain. All day, I hear a pretty much steady loop of that killer riff and vocal line...you know which one I'm walking about. Fire. Also, imagine the scene 30+ years ago: no one rocked properly, let alone with Big Black style production. Start bulking up on the psych, metal and folk now because I will beat yo over the head with it. I want to move in with Chris and be his apprentice.

And Tom hipped me to this one. Not much to say about Godflesh other than they are the template for all heavy music after 1990. It derives all its power from the gnarly rhythm section. And every band after them derives something from them. The Shape of Punk to come actually came out in 1989. Sorry Refused
